[Advice] Brake Lines Above Gas Tank
On the road to replacing my brake lines, so far replaced both of the rear lines and now I have to deal with the ones running above the gas tank, for those who've done it in their driveway, any advice? I did read over y=mx+b's build thread and he had to replace those lines, one tip he gave was loosening the gas tank strap bolts and that may give enough clearance without having to drop the whole tank. I plan on replacing the straps during the same time (also read the sticky on that). Wanted to see if there were any other good tips before I tackle it.
And does anyone know why Toyota ended up stopping the rubber coating right near the end of the brake line? This is where it ends up failing since the bare steel is exposed, kind of sucks since the rest of the line is likely fine. My only guess is that they needed to in order to remove the fitting down the road since it can't slide over the coating (if this is the case, seems like thinner material might have been possible/better to use)

Another question, the fittings I purchased in the link above did not look like the OEM one where the end is smooth/doesn't have threads (just re-checked the ones I cut off) similar to the one below. But both, according to the description are for inverted flares, so I'm guessing either style is okay?

Edit - I remember purchasing the Poly-Armour brand from AutoZone a long time ago to replace the driver side hard brake line (short line), it used the same fittings as the ones I purchased without the smooth end and looking at other ones on the site marketed towards Japanese vehicles, it also uses the same fitting. But then I saw this listing and I was confused again, it's description states it's for GM/Toyota, but when has Toyota used bubble flares? It does have the same fitting as the OEM line though.

Flared tubing and fittings seal between the female fitting/socket and the tubing, the male nut fitting is design only to apply pressure to the tubing so the female fitting/socket and tubing will seal to each other.

Makes sense, so either one of the male fittings I linked above are compatible with inverted/double flare? That is, either one will apply enough pressure to create that seal? I was definitely confused when I took another look at the OEM one and thought I purchased the wrong fitting.

The male fitting should have a slight taper in the inside diameter to sorta match the back of the flare on the tubing so it doesn't flatten out the tubing flare, other than that the threads of course need to match the female fitting.
That taper can be clearly seen on the stainless steel fittings you posted a link to.

And this one I ended up finding after looking at the OEM one, both were marketed for inverted flares (metric)

The ones you purchased is exactly what you need, I can't tell for sure on the other ones just looking at the photo but they also look to have the taper on the inside.

Yeah, I was a bit concerned since the OEM one looks like the second picture, here's a slightly better picture, the end of the fitting is smooth, but I guess this is just another design to taper near the end.

There's definitely a taper on the inside on that fitting as well.
The threads not going all the way to the end is not a concern as long as you have enough threads going into the female fitting.

I know that's still doesn't answer the question since they both list the same GRN21#,UZN21# for each part.
Best thing to do is to go by/enter your VIN number when ordering OEM parts, that way the parts department should ship the correct part you need when there are more than one to choose from.

While replacing one of the gas tank straps so far (rear), I noticed that the driveshaft bolts are in great condition (very minimal rust) compared to the other fasteners I've seen, are these made of a different material than the others or possibly a coating was applied?
