Finished up and running like a champ!

Owners manual said 6.2L oil capacity. I put in 6 quarts and it’s sitting perfectly halfway between L and F on the dipstick. So just gonna run with it for now. Anyone had this similar thing happen?

I always just put in 6 quarts my V8 and as you mentioned it's right in the middle of the 2 marks, just an FYI the 6.2 quarts capacity would be if there was absolutely zero oil in the engine anywhere, when you drain out the oil from the pan and remove the filter, there is still a little oil in the engine/oil pump/oil passages that can't drain out, so that is why 6 quarts will fill it just right.

Nothing special about this post, just celebrating that she’s paid off!

Bought her six months ago and financed a loan for it 3 years. My wife and I worked very hard and paid it off yesterday!

Few plans this week of doing some DIY rust reforming and a wash! I’ve got a special surprise as well for 200k miles!

The Adventures and Build of my 2007 4Runner!

Big day today! The big 200k!

So proud of it! I can’t take credit for the majority of the miles, I’ll certainly put the next 200k on it!

Thumbs up

Very nice thread. Just read it. I had a black 2008 Sport in 2018 and sold it and regretted it since. Now looking for another sport either in black again or in the Maroon color.

Thank you!

Now that it’s paid off, I can’t imagine selling. The plan is to keep it and hopefully pass it down to one of our kids.

The Adventures and Build of my 2007 4Runner!

Added a little badge of honor

Today I was going to start the first of many days of finding and controlling the rust spots on my frame. This was going to be my starting point!

This is what I was planning on using, although I was reading the directions and noticed it said “do not use on non rusted spots as it can cause rust” Anyone have experience using this product on frame surface rust, or can anyone recommend something better/different? I certainly don’t want to make the non rust areas start rusting by using this.

This thread has been a good read. I am also in the N. Texas area and just starting to search for a 4th gen. Finding one in decent shape and not priced crazy is a challenge. I currently "daily" a 95 Bronco with 300K on it. Looking to park it and get something else to daily. Granted I only commute to an office twice a week.

Thank you! I appreciate you reading!

Good luck with your search. Every time I looked for one I was only finding 12-15 across the state and half of those were in terrible shape I compromised and found the one with higher miles, but one owner and really nice shape. Rust is minimal and only surface because mine was a Galveston trip car from Houston.

It’s not easy, but worth it!

Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree this morning!

Pulled the code with my handy dandy code reader

And then proceeded to feel like a complete idiot!

Looks like my next mod will be to get a new gas cap!

Over the last month, I’ve noticed a small fluid leak on the ground under the engine. This only develops after sitting for 24+ hours. It’s very minute, maybe a drop or two here and there. Crawled under her today to investigate and found the fluid on these two parts.
This part of the transmission

This bracket on this hose line

Fluid is brown and almost like oil. Engine oil seems fine on check. Any ideas ?

That frame is insane. Almost concourse levels of clean.

Also 4runner gas caps are a wear item unfortunately.
