Is there any value to a frame rusted but otherwise mint V8 4th gen?

How much value, and what is the best way to extract it, from a 4th gen V8 with only 100,000 miles that is nearly mint everywhere except it's basically "totaled" by its frame rot/brake line corrosion/everything underneath rotted?

So as much information as you can provide helps.

Im surprised its just all of a sudden totaled - usually you get gradual signs this goes then that - Will it not pass inspection or are you just fed up with repairing it piece by piece?

- Where are you located?

- What parts of the frame are bad / rotted through (Pics always help)

- The brake lines can be replaced and they do corrode through - as do power steering lines, etc

If the truck is salveageable - you could do that or sell it to someone interested in the process

- You could sell it for someone as part out. You could part it out yourself. Theres also lots of charities, fire departments or places that will take junk cars as a donation write off

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. Find a donor frame in good condition and swap it.

are you looking for financial value? Ie: how can you pull as much money out of it? Or are you looking to get it road worthy and keep it as long as you can?

Frame swap it and off you go..

I had a 3rd gen with a bad frame and ended up selling it to Copart. I think you can get an offer online and if you accept it, they come pick it up and haul it away. While you could possibly get more money elsewhere, the offer would give you a baseline.

It's not sudden. What I mean by totaled is it would cost many thousands to fix everything, more than the worth of the vehicle. In the past 10 months I have had 3 brake lines burst on me while driving, losing all fluid and all braking control. Multiple shops around town don't want to work on the truck because of the labor drilling the bolts. The frame is rusted through in numerous places. All the traction warning lights are on as well as the CEL. What I want is to get rid of this thing for a few dollars at least.

Just post it on FB marketplace or Craigslist. You'll probably find someone that buys these kinds of vehicles and then ships them to third world countries.

It's definitely worth something to someone. Someone might have the time and skill to replace the frame. Others might part it out, the V8 power train has to be worth some $$.

I would think the V8 and drivetrain alone would have significant value with only 100K miles on it.

I just sold my FJ Cruiser with frame rot issues. There are people that don't mind fixing it up, just be honest with them about what you have. Of course we don't know how bad it is without photos...

There is a very good frame at FYC Imports in Odessa, Tx
I bought one from them for my 2004 for $1000.00 and changed it out myself.
Probably could have it done at a shop for 3-4 thousand and have a very good 4runner.
