Rear hatch soft close

Just bought my first 4th gen and first thing I replaced was the rear latch as it wouldn’t work correctly, however the soft close did work. Now the soft close no longer works properly. When I close the hatch it’s fully closed, the latch goes to pull the hatch in but pushes it back to original position. I’ve tried adjusting latch/striker position, removed battery for 30 min to reset ecu. All electronics function properly. I’ve searched all over and cannot find any info on this

Still sounds like a latch issue as that is what mine used to do before I replaced the latch mechanism. Did you buy OEM or aftermarket?

Agreed to what MikeinNH67 stated, OEM will ALWAYS be better on parts like these but I did have good luck on an aftermarket one...the latch mechanism needs to be adjusted better...it is something you will need to align a couple times...

Bought an OEM latch, I’ve adjusted it a few times and it has not changed at all.

Mine is a cheap Amazon one and it does work but who knows for how long. I did not have to adjust anything.

For someone who doesn't know the way these work, you close the door and the motor pulls the door in. Something in the latch mechanism locks in place and then the motor releases and does not hold the hatch closed.
