It’s been a minute, but the 4R stuff has not stopped! Been in the process of buying a new home so money and time has been tight. But a much bigger garage and workspace will give me so much more freedom on building the 4R.

Some sale last year I picked up the Victory 4x4 center console molle brackets. Trying to mount my CB radio prior was frustrating, and I just bit the bullet since they were so cheap. A couple custom brackets for the radio and success! Plus these have a nice “pew pew” mount for holsters which I like.

Another issue I’ve had when either camping or wheeling is mounting the magnetic CB antenna to the roof and having to run the wire. Talk about a 10 minute PITA. But Cali Raised LED sells a ditch light extension for CB antennas. I originally purchased a high $ 4ft antenna, but it was massive and I didn’t like the look. A quick look on Amazon and I found a $20 2ft antenna. Surprisingly the cheaper one works better, and the SWR’s are much lower. Grind away some of the powder coat and the antenna is grounded through the mount.

It still sits lower than the roof basket and awning so win!!!!

I think Black Friday I got some Eimkeith stuff, including Lower Link skids and a Panhardt correction kit. I’m not a welder, but with the new house already having a 240 in the garage I will soon learn. For the meantime I took it to a buddy’s shop and got them welded on.

Now I haven’t slammed down on the lower link mount much when wheeling. And after reading some horror stories from 3G 4R’s lower links folding and seeing our mounts are just as thin and flimsy I got worried. Come to find out when my buddy installed them, my mounts were already bent and it took some persuasion and more welding to get them straight.

For the Panhardt Correction Kit I had them set it at the highest (most level) for now just to test it. What a world of difference. I notice much less body roll in corners, and the minor bumps seem to disappear. Bigger bumps seem to be felt more. I’ll leave it this way for a while then maybe bump it down a hole to see the difference.

I purchased a Lost Trails bumper for the 4R through a group buy. I got it in a week ago and let me tell you it looks FANTASTIC. That will be on hold until we move. Lastly got some extended brake lines that I will throw on too.
