To-Do plans

Lift:
I am leaning towards Dobinsons MMR but other systems have their pros and cons (switched from OME BP-51 dreams because of reservoir hose to spring perch clearance concerns and the Dobinsons sound just as good if not better for a little less money)

Armor:
-4x4 labs DIY rear bumper with dual swingouts is already in the garage waiting for spring to assemble and install.
-Front bumper(unconvinced but I'll probably start with a front receiver)
-Rock sliders (yes)
-Tool storage (This thing has no where to put stuff)
-Does a Yellow Wrap count as Armor? (probably Lucid Wraps)

Misc
-Android Auto Headunit with cameras
-Grill (chrome coating is coming apart)
-replace blown jbl sub
-Raising priority on repaint / color change because clear coat is failing at an alarming rate

Wants maybe?
-Dual Batteries
-Taco box
-Wheels (the 6 lug/5 spoke thing drives me nuts)

Big Brakes

brake upgrade
5th gen brake install went well. It took me long enough that I got a lot of air in the lines so it took a lot of fluid and time to bleed everything. It still felt squishy and my theory is that some air got in the ABS controller. Driving it for a while it firmed up on it's own and now it feels great and stops fast enough that I am glad I have a receiver hitch skid plate.

One thing of note. 4th gen brake lines were out of stock so I took the risk and bought 5th gen's. The front fit perfectly. The chassis bracket on the rear uses a slightly different shape key hole but a few minutes with a file and a helpful wife remedied that.

ARB Skids

Arb skids
Pretty sure these are cheap right now because the 2024 4runner was announced and they want to get them sold off.

Front skids don't have the jack point support puck. I usually use my quick jacks so that doesn't really bother me but someday I might weld my own puck on there to restore the factory jack point. Oil drain hole doesn't look like it lines up super well but I usually drop my skids to inspect everything anyway.

Exhaust rattles against the transmission skid a little bit when holding brakes in reverse (140,000 mile engine mounts probably have a little bit of slop). I don't know yet how or if I will fix this. Long term plans probably include Magna Flo's overlander exhaust which will probably come with it's own fitment issues/fixes.

Interesting orientation of the quick jacks. I've not seen that before. How do you like them? I'd like to get some, or the max jacks. Kinda tired of jack and stands.

They are expensive but my garage is so short I don't have room to swing a jack handle. As far as using them sideways: It works, I don't like doing it because the truck is front heavy and doesn't rise evenly. I did it that time because my SUV extensions hadn't arrived yet due to getting lost in shipping twice (I recommend getting those from somewhere local like home depot because the box is inadequate and gets destroyed while shipping). Without the taller extensions the gas tank gets in the way. Now I have the extensions and I doubt I will use them sideways again but it is a valid and viable way to use them if needed.
