2005 T4R, Limited with the V8 2UZ-FE engine!

Today I completed 250.000 miles on the 4Runner! And I dare to say the FIRST 250.00 miles. The 4Runner runs flawless.

I own it since 2012 when I purchased it from the first owner with 70.000 miles on the clock.

The issues that came up over that last 10 years are:

2014: stuck front brake calipers, replaced the front brake assemblies with a better model, never got stuck again.

2015 and 2016: replaced the chain of the transfer case twice! The chain was stretched and started to skip teeth. Replaced it the first time with a used one, but that one also did not last, so I got a new one and since then its working fine.

2017: A reckless mechanic left one spark plug loose in the engine head, the loose spark plug destroyed the thread of its seat. Had to get a professional metal workshop to engineer an insert with a new thread and install it in the head of the engine. The mechanic who f.u. initially is now cleaning toilets!

2022: Transfer case motor needs replacement. Am still looking for a way to get a new one from the U.S. to Europe. Believe it or not, the U.S. suppliers do not want to ship to Europe! For the time being I do not use low gears.

Bad engineering from Toyota: the old manual model for gear shift to low NEVER brakes! Why they replaced it with an electric transfer shifter is a mystery.

since 2015: cracked manifolds, but I don't really care about that. The cracks are small. When an error sign appears on the dashboard, I do an error search with the TORQUE app and click it away. Does not harm the engine or affect driving characteristics.

2020: corrosion in the back door, need to replace it but the U.S. suppliers do not ship this part to Europe! Looking for a work-around.

Looking for help with getting these parts to Europe from U.S. suppliers:

1. transfer case motor
2. replacement of back door (no spoiler)
3. manifolds for the 2UZ-FE engine

Any ideas?

Wow, Kosovo. That's amazing. Did you buy your truck there? And congrats on 250K, I'm 14K away from that same milestone.

Can't help with the manifolds but on the other things, here are a couple of suggestions. You may have already tried these options but just in case:

Hatch - how bad is the rust? If it's still at the paint bubble stage, it can be stopped (though not fixed). See this thread. Others' experience and my own are both spelled out there.

Transfer case motor - I haven't had issues myself but there are many threads where people have gotten theirs to work over time through various methods. Might be worth trying those in the meantime while you're looking for a way to get the parts over to you.

Essentially boost the voltage to restore movement again

Thanks, that I have yet to try. Sounds good. But have to find the cabling map for the TC of the V8 engine. Seems they were all V6s that applied higher voltage to un-stuck the motor.
