Lift kit alignment issues

Did you have any issues getting proper alignment without adjustable upper control arms? I see mixed comments about needing them for proper camber, etc.

The Cali Raised low pro ditch light brackets came in today. Was planning to go with the CBI, but was intrigued when I saw the low profile option from CR.
Lights should be here tomorrow.

I also ordered the SRQ Fabrications body mount chop weld plates. It looks like their rounded style (and a couple others like them) remove the most material. They also appear to leave the cleanest, more factory look.....not that it is that big of a deal .

Next up is the Toytec 1" body lift.

Still trying to decide what wheels and what offset to focus on. How much negative offset to clear the UCA, but not too much to cause increased amounts of rubbing with 12.5" wide tires.

I bought a lift kit that included upper control arms designed specially for my make and year. After a lift caster (not camber) is lost. Aftermarket control arms are required to fix the caster loss. This pushes the wheel towards the front of the truck to correct geometry after lift. And also you'll now have more tire clearance at the body mount and plastic junk in that area.

Hello neighbor! You can bring that paint back to like new with just a buff and polish and Dr Color Chip sells a fantastic paint chip kit. I have been working on mine a panel at a time because I have a broken shoulder, but heres my before and after of my hood, that's a one and done turtle wax on an orange foam pad and griots garage buffer, paint chips then turtle wax max wax on a black pad. the two of you together could prob do in a weekend no problem.

Also I have an aftermarket grille that will fit your car if you are interested. Its new in the open box. Were i-10 and beltway - ish

A buff and polish is certainly not a bad idea. That would certainly help in the meantime.

How much are you asking for the grille? What brand is it?

The grille is from china. Its fairly straight forward install, as with all you will take some parts off your existing for the latching mech. you run the wires through the hood insulator down to driver side firewall. ground off a screw inside there at the kickpanel, attach an add a fuse to the positive and put it in your accessory fuse slot. I have the add a fuse as well. Im asking 150

We installed the CaliRaised low profile brackets and ditch lights yesterday. No telling what the actual angle of the lights will ultimately be, but that lined up with the angle on the top side of the brackets.

Finally got around to installing the new headunit. It is an Alpine iLX-W650. We didn't get past just the headunit, so we'll come back soon to install the backup camera, speakers, amps, etc.

We also installed the ProClip bracket and phone mount. Hands free for our teenager is the name of the game here.

Nice 4Runner, your son must be really excited. Very interested in seeing how the wheels work out.

Always happy to see the younger generation wrenching on a vehicle. It's how I was raised and how I will raise my son as well.

Thanks! He is definitely excited. We are kinda back to the drawing board on the wheels. I am looking for something with less offset. It is quite the balance to find something that will clear the UCAs but not stick out so far they cause other rubbing issues. I definitely do not want to buy new wheels just to run wheel spacers as well.

It was important to my wife and I that he is a part of the process. There is certainly a level of pride that comes with the hard work put in, and hopefully a level of respect that accompanies it.

We also have a custom golf cart project in the works. Our 9 year old daughter helps me with that because she is trying to claim her spot as driver

That's adorable. My son is 3 and my daughter is 1. First project for my son is to upgrade his jeep power wheel. He loves tools too, but a little too young for the real thing just yet.

I hear ya. I’m kinda in that same boat. I’m very skeptical on wheel spacers. It was a definite no no in the ford crowd due to possible breakage and losing your wheel.
