We got the new front speakers installed yesterday.
JL Audio C1-650 series 6.5" component set.

I apparently got the wrong speaker brackets for the rear doors from Crutchfield, so I ordered those on Amazon and they should be here today so we can get those speakers installed.

On Saturday we got the rear speakers installed to finish out that portion of the process. We will be back into the doors soon though to run the speaker wires from the amp. I thought about going straight to the wiring harness behind the dash, but I realize that I am a gluten for punishment.

Running just off of the headunit, the speakers sound great. They are definitely a nice upgrade.

We also got the amps mounted. I wasn't sure where to hide them until posting on FB. Everyone said under the front seats. Until I unbolted them, I didn't realize they would fit.
The JL 4channel is under the passenger seat and the Alpine sub amp is under the driver's seat.

On Sunday I ran wires and built the 'temporary' sub enclosure. It will be a minute before I design and build the permanent enclosure, so I wanted to be able to use the sub for now.

I also swapped out the interior dome light and door lights with LEDs. I still have several left from the kit that I have no idea where they go.

I finished putting the temp enclosure together. I have some bedliner material I will roll on next to make it a bit more presentable.
I built it to the JL specs for the 10w3v3.

I went to give it a quick test and the amp didn't turn on. I think I need to improve the ground situation. I grounded each amp between the body and the respective seat mount. I don't think I removed enough paint.
Will give it a go again tomorrow evening.

Edit: I went back to it this evening and got the amp on and the sub thumping. It sounds fantastic. Now I can't wait for the distribution block to arrive so I can get the speaker amp powered up.

We finally decided on a wheel so I got those ordered today. We went with the Mayhem Compass 17x9 -6 offset.

It is pretty tough to commit to an offset without knowing exactly how it will fit. My biggest concern is clearing the UCAs with a 12.50" wide tire. I didn't want to go crazy with the offset and have to deal with extra rubbing issues in other places. I also find it silly to buy an aftermarket wheel just to run spacers with it.
With all that said....fingers crossed they fit well!

We have the close-up plates for the BMC. We will get those welded in when we install the 1" Toytec body lift. Unfortunately the BL has been on backorder, but they are telling me it may ship out next week. We will also hammer down the pinch weld seam. Whatever other trimming is needed, we'll handle as necessary.

Our son turns 16 tomorrow. His godfather sent down some Weathertech floor mats and a bunch of Chemical Guys car wash supplies. He and I regularly washed our trucks when we were in high school and college, so he thought it fitting to set him up with some gear to do the same.

My mother-in-law gave him a set of HID low beams that I picked out. This is certainly a debated item, but I have had great success with HIDs and specifically DDM Tuning.
We got these installed yesterday and they look great. Install was a breeze. Thankfully there is plenty of room to mount the ballasts.

He goes in for his driver's test and appointment at the DMV tomorrow for his license.
Anxious to get the bumpers and rockers ordered!

I installed the same speaker set a little while back but I'm not sure if I happened to do the tweeters correctly. Is there any chance you have more pictures of the front door wiring for that? My wiring wasn't entirely stock from a PO's install that I had removed so I want to verify things.

I don't have any close up shots, but I will have the panels off again soon to run the speaker wire to them from the amp. I'll grab a better pic then.

With the crossover that is included, there is a thin wire coming out on one end that plugs into the tweeter. The other end would essentially plug in to the mid-bass; however, you need to connect that end to the factory wiring harness that came off of the factory tweeter. What you end up with is the JL tweeter plugging in to the factory plug. If you don't do that, it will not work.
Not sure if that is your issue, but start there.

The new tires were dropped off yesterday evening....a day early! First time ordering tires through Amazon, but they were the best price anywhere and came straight from Cooper.

Taking them in to get mounted and balanced this weekend.

We took the wheels and tires in to Discount Tire on Saturday. As soon as we got them home, we got to work making room.

We mounted up the rears first. We removed the whole mud flap and trimmed away the actual flap portion that hangs below the bumper. The tire was just resting on it. The inside edge of the bumper looks unfinished without the plastic piece bolted in so we wanted to keep it.

In the front, I picked a spot about half way up the front portion of the flare to start the cut. Toward the bottom, I measured in about 1.5". Ran some tape to connect the two points and cut away. Truthfully, I made a smaller cut first and had to go back for more.

On the back side of the tire, we tackled the usual items. The body mount required a good chop. I have the weld-in plates, but I don't plan to install them until we install the 1" body lift. I'd rather wait to do the welding while the rubber mounts are out.

We also folded over the pinch seam and then pushed the inner fender liner back.

After all of that, we effectively have no rubbing under general driving.
I ordered a 1" body lift from Toytec about 6 weeks ago. It has been on backorder and from stories I am hearing, I won't see it for several more weeks. Initially, I was not seeing any need to install it, but after driving a little with it today, I did hear the tires scrubbing the rear fenderwell.
Since this will never see off road, I am not too worried, but I think that 1" will give a little extra clearance.

I think the -6 offset was the perfect fit for the 12.5" wide tire. They barely stick out beyond the fenders and did not require a ridiculous amount of trimming.

We are super excited about the look. My son is looking forward to rolling into school this year. We have several more things to do before calling it done, but it has already come a long way in a few months.

My son and I installed the Dobinsons snorkel this past weekend. The install was not too bad, just took a little time with the on and off making sure the fitment is correct, which if you follow the template it is perfect.
Some of the flare clips were broken, so we addressed that before we could start the snorkel. Naturally it is never just that easy. Most of the raised tabs on the flare had separated so we had to epoxy those first.
