4-5 Years on and Im back to ask, THAT Question... Upsizing Tires..
Ok so since the last time I was on here asking this, questions... ie tire fitment, I have done a lot to my rig:
1. High clearance front bumper,
2. Body mount chop
3. 3" Lift (though I already had this)
4. etc.
I have been running thus far 285/70/17 with these wheels that have a -12mm offset. MTW-2479412: link.
My question is I want to try and run 295/70/17s now but before I spend the cash I want to see what folks think about them fitting or not.... see attached images.

You'll probably need wheel spacers to avoid rubbing. I'm running 3" suspension 1 1/2" body lift and wheel spacers to clear 295's
These are 305's with additional slight fender trimming to avoid rubbing.

Did you do a body mount chop to clear the 295s?

I did a body mount chop to clear 285/70/17s at full stuff.
The question should be, are you a mallcrawler or a wheeler?
Mallcrawler, likely don't need to do a bunch more and can probably get away without doing a body mount chop.
If you wheel, then you are going to need a body mount chop. Easy to do and you don't need to weld a plate to it unless you want to.
I agree with the wheel spacer, do a 1.25" and call it good. See what rubs and start trimming as needed.

So I already have a body mount chop done, already did the wheel well cutting....
See pics linked here: link
Current wheels easily clear the 285s with room to spare... even at full tilt....
So given the pics... I kinda think Im good to go... but wanted folks to chime in incase Im wrong...

Nope, you aren't You still might need some addition but minor clearancing but you should be good. Keep in mind you are getting into the realm of needing to regear soon with that size.

Yeah, even with the V8. I feel the difference with the 285/70s so as you go taller, the more noticeable it's gunna get.

as asked above, a lot of it lies with "do you wheel?".
If you're not after full articulation throughout full range of steering lock-to-lock there's a chance you're already done enough.
I'm running 35's with a 2.5" lift (approximate) along with a 1.5" body lift, with a 1" spacer (primarily to clear the JBA UCA) and I'm still fighting (albeit minor at this point) contact points.
Most notably it will be at the firewall pinch weld. I have cut and beat mine pretty significantly and still have tire making contact.
Not sure with your tire size, but my 35's allow me to make contact with the fender apron around the area of the battery tray.
I have the relocated body mount (via NTK taco cab mount) so that took the body mount completely out of the equation but there are still a few pain points.

But 285s to 295s is only marginally taller, roughly 1% or so... so rotationally they are close.. the weight difference though I think is where I am unsure....

Yeah, I guess the 295 isn't that big of a difference. I was thinking it would be more like a 285/75, which is a little taller still.
The V8 will handle it for sure. But mpg is going to drop some and you could start to notice a performance hit, especially as you continue to go larger, which you likely will. Didn't say regearing was a "must" but it's something you want to start thinking about as you go larger tires and look at how you use the vehicle.
