Best aftermarket replacement for OE headlights?

I did a search on this subject but all I found were "upgrades". HID and Xenon and such.

My original lens have cataracts and aren't as effective as they need to be. As much as I believe in OE parts, I just can't afford to go OE in this instance.

What's the best quality aftermarket halogen headlights for my 4th Gen? I see Depo and TYC.

I haven't heard anyone give kudos to any aftermarket headlights. What I did to mine is refinish them using the ChrisFix method on Youtube. I'm in the 2 year range since I did it and they still look good. Just costs the price of sandpaper and some clear coat spray.

I've always heard TYC brand is good for aftermarket replacement lights. Rock Auto has them pretty reasonably priced too.

Headlightsdepot.com has always been a good source for me in the past.

I just ordered these from Pro Tuning Labs, quality seems OEM-like. Haven't had a chance to install yet.

Early 4th gens don't have near the options of the later ones.

Just suck it up and buy the OEM, you'll regret it later down the line if you dont.

Aftermarket options suffer from poor build quality and subpar light output.

I had a set of eagle eyes they were replaced twice under warranty for condensation issues. The third time was a charm as far as condensation goes but the light output is not as good as OEM. They dont look as good as the stock smoke chromes on the sport either.

Give RX350 HID Lenses and bulbs a shot. Over on the TacomaForums, crashburn80 has done a few years worth of research into everything you could possibly drop in to a stock housing and nothing beats stock lenses with h9 bulbs in performance over distance but I think the RX350 HID lenses, ballasts, and bulbs can be retrofitted or get a similar kit from Morimotto and give you more lumens for a similar performance end result. If Trucklite hadn't patented a heating element in the lenses of the housing for 8" round lights, all the other aftermarket companies could make something that would work with a proper LED reflector and bulb setup.
