Smile I'm Back!

Hey friends,

A few of you are aware of what happened to my last 4Runner, but long story short, my ex-wife gave me the option of her or the rig. I chose her.

After buying the Mini Cooper S she wanted, we split and I sold it. Bought a Jeep, sold the Jeep, bought a Sequoia, sold the Sequoia, bought a Lexus, just sold the Lexus and picked up another clean 2006 4Runner! I moved through cars flipping them in order to get back to what I love, and here we are- just shy of 2 years later!

She has 264k on the odometer, I have all Toyota maintenance records for it with 90% of the major services done within the last 50k miles!

I am the third owner, and I purchased it for $8,500.

It needs some paintwork on the front bumper, I'll be drying and changing bulbs in the headlights (they are super loose), I have 33" tires coming next week, it has the Rancho RS9000XL lift (the same lift I started with in 2015), and the frame is immaculate.

Its a V6, 4x4 with center diff lock. It looks like the previous owner installed the double din entertainment system complete with a working reverse camera. The inside is spotless and the dash isn't cracked. The previous owner also put on the RockTrix beadlook wheels that have zero rash on them!

I am excited to take you along with my build progress as I did on my first 4Runner. We won't be going as crazy with this one, but I'm happy to be back

(My first Build)

Thanks!!!

Welcome back!

Hopefully the "Build Date" on the VIN sticker is 12/05 or later so you don't have to worry about it having the old design head gaskets.

I just looked! Mine was made 07/06. Did the old design rupture or leak pretty badly?

The engine bay on this thing is immaculate, I don't see oil dampness ANYWHERE and yes, I did make sure it had oil in it

There's an issue with some but not all of the 4th Gen T4Rs V6s built prior to 12/05 having the head gasket/s blow out causing the owners to either abandon/sell the T4R or having to have the gaskets replaced at great cost or DIY them to saves some money, the new design gasket has seemed to fix the issue, also all head OEM gaskets sold after 12/05 to replace the old design that did fail is of the new design so anyone who had to replace the gaskets after that date and bought OEM gaskets should be good now having the new designed gaskets.

You should be good to go since there haven't been any reports of the new designed gaskets failing....unless there was a bad overheating of the engine, which is usually not the gaskets failing per say but instead the heads warping from the high heat.
