Have you noticed...

... if the car isn't locked, the door windows still function, but the rear window does not.

This is interesting to me

unless you just shut off the truck, with no doors opened yet, you have 30 seconds to open or close all windows before any door is opened.

Yep, it's a timed thing most Toyotas and Hondas do after you shut the car off. Allows you to close a forgotten window after the keys are removed. You have a certain amount of time unless you open a door. I think it works on my hatch window and sunroof too. It's one of those little features I really like.

do you have factory keyless or aftermarket?

if its aftermarket, it seems they trigger the 2nd ignition wire, that would give some power to all windows until the car sense the door trigger, than that simulate the power down.

Hey, learned something new today

It works on my 2004 until you open the door. I didn't check to see if there's a 30 second limit. Good to know; thanks.

It works on our 1999 Sienna too, so it's not a new thing, but good to know

Hmm. I'm definitely gonna have to check this one out. I know about rolling up the windows after its off, before the doors open, but didn't know about the back window.

Left it unlocked overnight.
Went out in the morning and the windows still work.
Original key fobs and no aftermarket alarm.

It must be an industry standard. My friends have Honda, Tahoe and Toyota vehicles. They all work the same way. It's just one of those nice Easter eggs you come across.

My son, after owning his 2006 T4R for more than 10 years, asked me why the rear window doesn't go up when you press the fob again. It only goes down. He said he was tired of turning on the ignition just to put the window up. I asked for his key, put it in the rear lock and turned it. Wurrrrrrr....

This is interesting to me

My best guess is that this is to help with escaping a submerged vehicle if/when the engine stops running. That would also account for the rear window being the exception.

My 2004 doesn't do this, only around 30 seconds after the key is removed and the windows no longer function, unless the key is inserted and you turn the ignition back on.

The keys would likely be in the ignition in the case of a river or pond excursion.

I'm talking no keys have been near the car for 24 hours and the windows are ready to go.
