New bumper paint

My front bumper on my 04 has seen better days. It is in good shape structurally, but the paint and clear have left the chat due to the Texas sun. Have any of you tried the paint you order online to match? You can get it in touch up, a spray can or pints/ quarts? It isn't too pricey, nor is an aftermarket bumper. It comes with the paint, clear, primer, etc. Something like this : Toyota 4Runner Touch Up Paint & Paint Color Codes | TouchUpDirect

I am halfway considering it. Worst case is, Ill be out some time and $200 or so. Best case, it looks better than my sun bleached bumper.

I have used the site below for a light blue Honda and it matched pretty well.

My experience with aftermarket bumpers isn’t positive at all! Most of them fit like garbage and are definitely flimsier than an oem. Why isn’t repainting the old one an option for you?

My fear is, the paint is horrible and it would look worse than the current one with the clear and paint abandoning ship. I got a quite to get current one painted it was over $1k. That was if I pulled it myself, which I am not opposed to doing.

I’m sure the $1k quote was for overhauling the bumper, stripping it down, repainting it, then reclearing it. I’m afraid that your spray paint jobber on an aftermarket bumper will turn out worse looking than the one you have with the clear peeling. I’ve seen them turn out ok at first but spay jobber definitely won’t hold up like a repaint from a paint shop or if you were to take the proper steps and do it correctly. It’s definitely not cheap going through a body/paint shop. Good luck!

Yeah, those cans are best for touchup. You'll probably be underwhelmed by the results.

Two other options though:

First is buy a used bumper painted with the correct color code, probably tougher to find in good condition but you could watch for one. I did this for my daughter's silver Sentra. You can't tell it's not original.

Second is to buy one already painted from a place like in the link below. Did this on my son's Altima which was also silver and it matched pretty well. We had to nip and tuck in places for it to fit well but it did the job.

Lastly, no I'm not a silver Nissan lover they were just cheap cars needing some work that I got for my kids.
