V8 knocking
I just got my oil changed on an ‘03 V8 and all of a sudden it started knocking. This isn’t the exhaust leak tick. It’s a knock. What scenarios would produce a knock?

I'm guessing you checked the oil level, if not low oil level with make it knock.

Dealer changed the oil. Yes, I did check the level. The only thing new is they put in synthetic and I don’t know if it had synthetic before.

That makes absolutely ZERO difference.
The real question is what viscosity did they use and what filter is on there?
Have you confirmed the oil level yourself or are just going off the noise? Have you looked under the hood or under the vehicle for any glaring issue?

Have you talked to the dealer that did the change? Did it knock when you picked it up from them?

Does it knock all the time and all RPM ranges or only on start up?

If it truly is an engine knock, this could get ugly based on the situation. Maybe another "this is why I don't let the dealer change my oil".

Well, I don’t know what happened but the knock is gone and VSC Trac and VSC off come on when I put it in gear. I feel like I’m chasing my tail.

It sounds like you need to do a zero point calibration. You can search how to do it here on the forum. It’s pretty straightforward.
