Smile Cranks but won't start hack

I have a 2003 Toyota 4Runner with 240K miles. A couple days ago I tried to start it and it would crank fine but wouldn't start, as if it didn't have fuel (which it did). Also, after driving it for 20 years I know just about every sound my 4Runner makes and I didn't hear the fuel pump turn on when I turned the key. I suspected the fuel pump but didn't know how to confirm it. My brother (who's a master mechanic in another city) told me there's an access port underneath the driver's side passenger seat that when removed gives access to the fuel pump. I was able to find the port and removed the 3 screws and sure enough there was the fuel pump. My brother suggested I tap on the plastic (see photo) while someone cranks. With my wife cranking it I tapped on it with the end of the screwdriver I used to remove the screws and it started like it has the last 20 years. Unreal. He stated it could work and never fail again but to be safe it'd be best to replace the fuel pump assembly. The best thing is I can now take it to the mechanic and know exactly what needs to be done. Hope this helps someone.

It's a good tip that's worth a shot for anyone having similar issues and not hearing the fuel pump whine when turning on the key. Didn't realize there was an access port there.
