Difference between '05-'06

Hey everyone,

Just curious as to if there were any major changes between the '05 and '06 4Runners. I'm in the market for one and wasn't sure if I should get one over the other.

If anyone knows of one for sale in or near PA I'm interested. Going with a sport edition v8.

Thanks,

Chris

I know a few of my observations:

- '06 has LED Taillights, '05 doesn't
- '06 Foglights are round and separated from signal light, '05 are kept together
- '06 Spoiler is bigger, '05 is flat
- '06 Headlights have a small curve on the bottom, '05 doesn't
- '06 has no color-matched running boards/carrier, '05 does (Limited Edition only)
- '06 doesn't have rear bumper reflector, '05 does
- '06 has the new front stainless steel cover, '05 doesn't
And lastly:
- '06 is slower than the '05 (j/k)

Here's a breakdown.

This will get you to 05 & 06 brochures.

Here's another great breakdown.

Good luck!

Minor corrections, 2003-04 has the flat spoiler. The 2005+ have the hump.

The roof rack and running board are not color-keyed per say, unless you happen to have a Titanium (silver) 4Runner. The roof rack and running boards for certain trim models on the 2003-05 came in silver. (I've seen the running boards in white, not sure if it's not stock or not on a white 2003-04 Sport.) Certain models of 2003-05 also has a silver center section for the front and rear bumper.

Looking for a front mount hitch for my 2005 4runner. Most places only list back to the 2007. Will the front mount hitch from the 2007 fit the 2005, or were there changes on the front that would prevent this?

I don't believe it will if I recall..but asking the vendor should get you a definite answer.
