Front Axle Nut Thread Sizing

Howdy. I have an OEM 2004 Toyota 4Runner v8 front axle that I just rebooted. It was in storage so I don't have the original nut. I bought new OEM axle nuts (from Toyota) and they do not fit. Were different sizes of nuts used? I also have an aftermarket axle and the OEM nuts fit it perfectly. What is the thread size so I can try chasing them with a die? Thanks.

Chasing the threads with a die won't make a nut fit that isn't the right size, something wrong in your situation.

Considering the new OEM nut fits on an aftermarket axle that we're replacing, I can only assume the threads on the OEM axle have been damaged.

Resolved!

Took the axle up to CVG Axles in Denver and they corrected the threads. Size is M28x1.5. Worked perfectly and the OEM nuts fit again.
