Replace 1 climate control bulb and another immediatly blows?

I've replaced probably a dozen climate control bulbs on this 4Runner with no issue until today.

My middle climate control bulb 90010-09015 was out.

When I replaced it then the left side 90010-09017 bulb immediately blows out. Strange I think...

I goto the dealship for a new 90010-09017, replace it and the RIGHT 90010-09017 blows!

Any idea what is causing this?

Been there.......done that.

All it takes is a slight bump to the assembly during disassembly or reassembly to the dash.

The bulbs are not very tough.

I tried to be gentle but that makes sense.

Glad I’m not the only one

When a couple of mine went out in 2018 for my 2004 I bought the pack off Amazon and replaced all of them. I keep the good, old ones in case any of them burn out again but it's been 5 years since I replaced them and so far none have gone out.

If any bulb goes out I usually replace any others that are the same, like front or rear turn signal bulbs. Then I keep the good old one as a spare.

I bought a 10 pack of just the bare bulbs for a few bucks and replaced them in the base. Much cheaper than getting the whole thing.

Same with me, bare bulbs and replace them all. Much cheaper than OEM and haven't had to touch them in a few years. Popping that cover on and off jars the old bulbs enough that they fail quickly after. I learned that the hard way too but on a Honda that uses the same sort of bulb.

Smack the panel a few times. I played with my camera wire routing a few weeks ago and the lights went out until I smacked it.

Huh.....?????

Well......I guess one can find any "marginal" bulbs that way.......or make new marginal bulbs.

YMMV.....
