VSC TRACK VSC OFF ABS Lights on, ZPC didn't work

The VSC TRACK, VSC OFF, and ABS lights are intermittently coming off and on.

I did a Zero Point Callibration earlier today, and the ABS light went off for a few minutes, then came back after a quick test drive.

I remember there was a TSB or similar years ago that you can get ABS codes by jumping the OBD connector with paper clips. I even posted about it and got a code (RT Front Wheel Speed Sensor)

I cannot find that document, even though mulitple threads speak of it. So can someone lead me to it?

Or can someone give me an OBD scanner that will currently pull abs codes out of a 2004 Sport 4x4 V6, please?

My memory is pre 2006 models don't play well with some scanners, so the paperclip method is preferred. I have a bunch of DTCs from Techstream, but I am unsure if I did the code retrieval correctly.

I also am unsure as to the timeframe of those codes:

Under Signal Check (UT-04-004)

CURRENT DTC: 14

C0371
C1271
C1272
C1273
C1274
C1275
C1276
C1277
C1281
C1282
C1278
C1281
C1282
C1283
C1336
C1379

Also the explanations for each code were there, but there are too many to list.

If these are current DTCs, that many is pretty substantial.

So can anyone help with digesting and diagnosing this issue please?

Thanks for any help!

I found a post on tacomaworld, see the attached pic.

I cleared the lights. They came back.

Not a gas cap. Haha

Not a brake switch. Hahahah

Not one of the 14 DTCs. Ha

It was:

ABS 31 (Right front wheel speed sensor fail)
Vsc 43 (ABS Malfunction)

Fortunately, while digging, I found an excellent video on YouTube of how to diagnose and fix that exact issue:

ABS Diagnosis Tips from a Toyota Mechanic. Fix It Right The First Time - YouTube

This screenshot shows how to pull ABS codes with two paper clips.

I’m posting this for myself and anyone in the future that needs to get these codes for a real diagnosis, and who doesn’t want to guess by changing gas caps and brake switches.

FWIW,
I had the VSC lights come on and it was the O2 sensor. My mechanic said a bad O2 sensor can affect engine performance which the VSC relys on, so it throws the code. Sensor replaced and lights reset. Problem hasn't returned, 2 months

My son's 2006 VSC lights came on and it turned out to be the wheel speed sensor. His mechanic said something similar. Anything that will impact the vehicle's performance can turn on the VSC lights.

YMMV
