Quick Help? Jack Stand Placement for Running Front Wheels

Am searching for a noise and going to get all 4 wheels on jack stands, put it in 4wd and get under the T4R with my stethescope. I think I want the jack stands for the front wheels under the lower suspension arm rather than the frame because I don't want to power the front wheels with the CV axles fully extended. Can anybody confirm? thx

I'd put them under the frame, never the control arms. Its not like you are turning the steering wheel with the CV axles fully extended. And if you have stock suspension components I doubt there would be binding in the CV axles, not like they are under load being up in the air anyway.

I did get it up with the jack stands under the lower control arms and ran it in 2wd, 4wdh and 4wdl at probably 10mph. Checked each of the wheel bearings (front & back) with my stethoscope but did not hear anything. I had already done all the classic wheel bearing tests without finding an issue and had replaced the CV axle on the left side because the outboard boot was split but no joy - noise continued. So I bit the bullet and bought the Steelman Pro Chassis Ear2 - $140 from Amazon (the wired one - the wireless version is $300 and the wired version works great). Hooked it up to the front right & left wheel bearings, front diff and transfer case. Could tell right away that the right wheel bearing was an issue. I guess it had not gotten bad enough to make noise except under load. I try to limit money spent on specialty tools but when you need it, you need it. Ordered the SKF Wheel Bearing Assembly BR930978 from Rockauto.
