Vinyl on Fender Flares

well, being nearly 20 years old, paint et al starts to show its age from normal use or even better, trail use...the tops of my fender flares are peeling a bit and in-lieu of spending money on painting them I'd rather do something like a vinyl cover...does anyone have experience in doing something like this? I have NO idea what they'd look like as there isn't much real-estate to see the "greater picture" if I were to consider like topography lines or something like that. Here's the example I'm imagining: etsy.com

Is anyone able to perhaps do some photoshop on this?

And a picture for reference:

My brother had an 80 series and he (somewhat poorly) painted the fenders and lower door panels with bed liner. To give you an idea of what it might look like?

I appreciate the idea. I had that on an old XJ, and it was definitely function over fashion, but my wife demands it look good...hmmm, maybe color-matched bed liner is an option...hmmmmm

If there are any other ideas, send them on!!

Raptor liner

I used raptor liner which can be color matched or you could go for a two tone look. I like nice glossy paint, but if I'm going to get something scratched up it will be right there. This stuff doesn't scratch.
