WTF Toytec?! Suspension kit...

When I bought a suspension kit from Toytec towards the end of May they told me it would be about 2.5-3 weeks to ship the front suspension parts. Half way through June I asked for an update: end of June, early July. Beginning of July same thing, this time end of July... I just called today and now they are telling me end of August beginning of September.

I mean, WTF?! They shipped the first half of the order with no problems, and now I have a half a suspension sitting in my garage which is useless to me. Not to mention that I have bought UCAs from elsewhere...

Anyone know what's going on over there? I'd love to get these parts before its too cold to install them.

Updating
I spoke to Toytec about retuning the parts that they sent me when I first placed the order. They informed me that I can return the parts they shipped however I will be on the hook for shipping costs. They will also refund the shipping costs of what they sent me, but not the duties paid on them. Sounds like they're flipping me the bird

just so every one knows the numbers, this is what I paid:
$1638.72 CAD TTHA-CK-RCC-0309 - Toytec/Bilstein 3" Lift Kit (03-09 4Runner) x 1
$60.07 CAD SBR-129 - Toytec Front Sway Bar Relocate Kit x 1
$191.55 CAD FedEx Economy 3-5 Days
$247.92 CAD Duty and Tax
---------------
$2138.25 CAD

After speaking with them they offered me
$861.15 USD ($1,194.11 CAD) for the unshipped front coil overs
$480.95 USD ($666.91 CAD) once they receive the parts they shipped already
--------------
$1342.10 USD ($1,860.87 CAD)

Of course I have to pay for shipping, so guessing about another $200 CAD, just for the math:
+$2138.25 CAD
+$200 CAD
-$1,860.87 CAD
-----------
$477.38 CAD

So its going to cost me $475 because Toytec can't get their shit together? I'm pissed, but am I missing something? MasterCard seems to agree with me that I should not have to pay the shipping, but who wants to wait a few months for this to be resolved by MasterCard? I've already waited since may for a new suspension.

Send what you have back to them and go a different manufacturer.

So I called Toytec and asked about availability of that part number. I was informed that the hold up is from Bilstein and that they are 60 days behind. On the front coil overs there is no choice for shocks, the front only come with Bilstein. The rear you have an option for the Toytec shocks but it looks like they are $250 more than the standard kit.
As a side note to this...I purchased this same kit for my FJ a while ago and I also have a Dobinsons kit on my 2008 T4R. There is a huge difference in ride quality between these two kits and can definitely recommend the Dobby kit having owned both. The Dobby is quality, hard working, smooth riding gear. I am not one to take the easy line when off road, so the extra cost is totally worth the peace of mind when wheeling solo in the middle of nowhere.

I'm definitely considering doing this option, but id rather just have them send the parts out.

My primary use for this vehicle is daily driving, with the occasional trip down crusty forestry roads/trails. I can't have my wife complaining about the ride quality on the road. I choose the Toytec option because of the positive reviews of its on-road handling. I had an OME lift on my old 3rd gen and it definitely felt rough on our crappy roads here... I hadn't considered Dobinsons.

I'm running Dobs IMS all around, for the last couple months, replaced the Bils 4600 and definitely a better ride on the street, I don't off road so no comment there.

I too will chime in and vouch for the Dobinsons. Currently running their extended travel twin tube shocks/springs with their tubular UCAs, and they're like a beefed up version of OEM suspension. Almost as comfortable on the street as stock and better performance off road.

Mike from Exit Offroad was super helpful and answered all my questions.

Here is a thread started by Exit to introduce the Dobinsons line/dealer to the US. Mike has helped me and if you scan through some of the posts you can see a lot of different configurations and questions being asked and answered. Good people, product and ride.

It's not uncommon for people who answer the phone to be the lowest man on the totem pole in terms of info. He might have been quoting as though you haven't placed an order yet. I've had shops do that to me, then I tell them that I have an order that's already 2 months old that we're waiting on parts for (usually RCI skid plates).

I'd suggest calling back again and asking them to 100% verify the info and ETA's they've given, then ask them for a return if you don't want to wait or keep the other parts.

All that said, Bilstein has had some pretty big production delays this year, but not with 5100's, so it must be their coil spring supplier or something else in the chain.

Well, Toytec just told me to f*ck off. Looks like its going to cost me ~$475 because they can't make good on their end of the deal. I updated the initial post just in case anyone is interested in the specifics.

I will hopefully be receiving a refund for the bigger half soon enough. Once that's processed I'm going to be buying a Dobinsons kit. I can say I definitely wont buy anything else from Toytec

Well, just an update on this.

It's the end of November and I have finally heard back from MasterCard. They have agreed with my dispute and reversed the charges on my card. So, as I pointed out to Toytec, this puts me in the position of having their property in my possession. I gave them a week to get me a shipping label, but if that doesn't happen I may have some shocks/springs for sale lol.

What really gets me is that I need to do another winter on the burnt out old tires that slide all over the place on the icy roads and it's definitely too cold to install a new suspension now. And new tires won't fit until I get the new lift... I guess I'll have to wait till spring before ordering a Dobinson's lift
