Companies are only as good as the product produced yesterday for the most part. Supposed aftermarket stainless steel mufflers with a lifetime guarantee are neither stainless nor have a warranty honored.

Buy once cry one I say, but $700 to replace it from the cats back with parts from the mother ship seems a bit much. But they did last 17years.

Is there a midground?

No mid grade that I've seen. You are right, the aftermarket stuff does not last.

5th gen exhaust is a direct fit for the 4th gen V6.

I picked up an OEM 2021 muffler + tailpipe that somebody had laying around locally for $75. Throw in another ~40 for all the gaskets (aftermarket gaskets) and you're still coming in cheap as hell for a perfect fit + fairly durable exhaust.

I've also occasionally seen oem TRD take-offs for $300-400 but those tend to go quick.
