Rack and Pinion issue. Steering off center both directions depending on Turn
I'm having an issue after my rack and pinion was replaced. I failed the yearly VA inspection this year because I had a leak/tear in the boot so I took my 4th gen to a shop. They replaced the rack and pinion, pressure hose as well as the 2 front sway bar links.
When I picked it up, I had to take it to another shop to get the alignment done since the shop that replaced the parts did not have an alignment machine.
When I picked up the car from the alignment shop, I was driving down the street and on a straight road, the steering wheel was about 10 deg to the left off center. However I kept driving and when I made a sharp right turn and started heading down a straight road, the steering wheel was like 5 - 10 deg to the right now. So I turned around and went back to the alignment shop.
The did an alignment again and test drove it and said that it was doing the same thing again and that I needed to take it back to the shop that did the work. They also saw there was still a leak somewhere.
So I drove it right back to the shop that did the work and they put it on a lift and basically tightened everything back up and fixed the leak from a hose where the clamp may have not been holding tight enough.
I took it back to the alignment shop and they did an alignment again. After this is seemed fine. I drove it to pick up my daughter and back home and steering wheel was straight and everything was tracking straight (this was yesterday). This morning I take my daughter to school all was well. However, I had to basically make a U-turn and went to full lock. Then when going straight, the steering wheel was now like 5 degrees to the left again. So its doing the same thing again.
I took it back to the shop and dropped it off there. Any idea what the heck is going on? I did not have this issue before the rack and pinion was replaced.
