Dash Bezel insert for mounting?

I have a 2006 Limited v8. I'd like to use one of the aftermarket dash mounts that attach to the bezel of the radio/dash area. However, I have the flush mount radio not one of the recessed ones. Checking out the parts diagram I think it *Might* be possible that I could simply order the black plastic trim piece and it would install on my radio.

I'm planning on replacing the entire stereo with an aftermarket one. I'm primarily concerned that there are more brackets/screws than just the black trim piece. Has anyone done this before?

From staring at Ebay listings for way too long I think it's definitely two different parts/part numbers for the complete dash trim piece and not a removable insert. The horizontal area between the radio and the AC controls sometimes has an "AL" stamped on it for the recessed one. I saw a "C" stamped on the non-recessed version.

Looks like I would need to replace the entire dash piece just to get a few cm of mounting surface which seems silly.

I'd suggest starting with crutchfield rather than etsy or ebay. Crutchfield will tell you what brackets you'll need based on your model and oem radio.

So this is a little different but may offer some help as mine is an 07 SR5. I made my own console mount that attaches to the sides of the head unit itself. I used filler pieces from Metra and was able to trim those so I didn’t have to modify or drill into my bezel at all. I designed mine as a sort of copy to the F3 Fab mount. IIRC Metra makes fillers for both style bezels. Idk if DIY is an option for you to fabricate one yourself or no. TEQ makes one that screws in to the front of the bezel too.
