Does 5th gen suspension fit on 4th gen?

I have a 2004 4R with 170k miles. Original shocks are leaking and i was wondering if i could replace with some old 5th gen front and rear shocks.

TIA

From What I've read on here, yes, but not without some minor mod to the front shock. As I understand it, the 5th gen lower shock mounting bushing is just a little wider than the 4th gen, so you would have file, sand, machine, or otherwise narrow up the front lower shock bushing, and I don't think it's by much.

Lower front shock eyelet is a little wider. Nothing about 15 seconds on each face with an angle grinder and a flap wheel can’t fix.

I put 5th gen springs and shocks on my 2008 SR5. It only required a small amount of grinding to make it fit.

Yes it does. I have front and rear from a 5th Gen TRD pro on mine. Front required basically no modification, think I had to maybe grind a small amount on the front shock eyelets as it was a tight fit. The upper mounts for the rear shocks were too small though and I had to take a step bit to them.

I put on a 5th gen Gibson exhaust on mine, too...just to add to the 5th Gen what-if conversation...
