Will an 8' Poker Table Fit in the 4R?
I'm at work and I'm talking with a buddy of mine about whether we can move his 8' poker table in the back of my 4Runner tonight. I am unable to find any dimensions online, and it's hard for me to venture a guess.
I tend to think the cargo space is not 8' long, but I've been surprised before at the things I could fit in there.
What does T4R.org say?
Thanks -- Zep

I haul lumber in my 4th gen from time to time and I can fit 10' boards inside the vehicle, but they're very close to the front windshield and 8' comes up between the two front seats. 6' is all I can fit behind the front seats. So I don't think it will fit unless it hangs out the back window or you leave the gate open.

How wide is it? If it fits through the rear window, you'd have no problem with the rear seats folded down.

Yup. You'll probably need to stick it out the rear window, assuming its narrow enough. Ive fit 8' 2x4's in the back without doing that, but they extended a good foot or so onto the center console.

Before I purchased my 4Runner I measured the interior.
IIRC:
With the rear seats down, cargo shelf down, and the liftgate closed it measured about 5 feet from the back of the seat to the inside wall of the liftgate.
That was with the seat in the driving position pretty far back. The width was about 4 feet wide measured above the plastic rear wheel wells.
I have to wonder if a pool table will be able to hang out the rear window when it is down.
I say that because I think the rear window is more narrow than the interior due to the design of the liftgate.
It might be prudent for the original poster to get a tape measure and take some measurements.
Also, do not forget that even if the pool table fits inside the 4Runner there is a SERIOUS risk for minor to severe scratching and gouging of your interior.
Might it be worth considering renting a truck from Home Depot for what, $20, and just put the pool table in that in order to move it?

I'm pretty sure it's a poker (playing card) table and not a pool table that they're considering moving. I agree about gouging up the interior, I'm verry fussy about my 4Runner, but I haul different things around in the back with no damage occuring. I hope no one would try moving a pool table in the back of a 4Runner!

Depending on weight, what about the roof rack?

Won't fit 8' behind the front seats with the hatch closed. My 162cm snowboard fits behind the front seats without much wiggle room.
