Passenger front airbag bulging dash.
You can actually see the outline of the bag. Has anyone else had this issue on a 4th Gen?

It means your 4Runner is male and you other car in the garage is a sexy female vehicle. The solution is to park him outside and let him cool off and not get as excited.
Seriously, sorry, I haven't heard of that happening before. I'd take it to the dealer. Last thing you want is a defective airbag.

Haven't heard of it. Even worse, I believe the passenger side dash is primarily a single piece, so you may have worse problems than you think.
I agree with supercliff that you need to get it checked right away -- if it's defective, it could deploy unnecessarily.

I have mentioned it to my local dealer. They did not seem too concerned. I will state that when I took delivery of the 4R the issue was not there, but just over three weeks later the issue arose.
BTW, I have a friend that is a Lexus Tech. He said the bracket on the backside of the bag maybe over tighten, if not then there is nothing that can done other than replace the one piece dash and he advised to avoid that at all cost as it would more than likely create additional issues.

I've seen some Toyotas, IIRC, Siennas, because of the one piece dash, the tear lines in the dash is very visible under certain lighting conditions.
Take it in and see what the dealer says.

I don't believe I see anything like this with mine...man, if it gets worse I suppose you will be left with no choice, but I can understand the "avoid it if you can" idea...these types of things can go from bad to worse I think in a heart beat...I wonder if it would result in rattles etc. if the factory installed dash was removed....
Cheers

Tomorrow I'm going to see the service manager at the dealership I use, so I'll try to mention it to him to see his reaction.

The service manager was out today, but I had a chance to talk to one of the techs about this thread (I think he's a master certified tech). To net out the conversation, he said you need to get it checked -- that the dash is one piece, and that the bag should not be showing at all. He didn't mention a safety concern, but the look on his face said he was worried about something that he wouldn't elaborate on.
Let us know what you find out.

If I understand correctly:
You took delivery 3 weeks ago.
The bag wasn't visible or as visible at that time.
Now it is (something has moved, right?) Can you get us some pics?
You don't mention if you bought new or used.
If it's new, then it's their warranty issue and press them on it, don't give up. Log a claim with the Toyota call center if you get stonewalled at the dealer. Get the regional rep involved.
If it's used, do you have any leftover or extended warranty?
I wouldn't worry about them replacing the dash because it is well engineered to go back together without any squeaks or rattles. That's what they have to do anyway for an insurance job if one deploys in an accident.
Regardless, log a concern on the NHTSA site so there is a record of an issue even if nothing ever happens with the bag. NHTSA likes to track these things.
Good luck.

Thank you for the replies.
BTW, It is new and to clarify, the airbag outline begin showing 3 weeks after delivery, approx. 3 months ago.
I will post pics when I get a chance.
Note: I recently received a quality survey from Toyota. I did make mention of this issue in the survey.

Since it's new, then it definitely should be a warranty item.
