Have the same noise when closing the door. Quite frankly, as long as it doesn't make noise when I'm driving I can take the very brief rattle when shutting the door...

I don't quite have the idle surge, I do sometimes get a driveline clunk which I'm hoping can be taken care of by a bit of grease in the drive shaft.

Coming from an Acura TSX, I must say the build on the Toyota is far better. My brother has a V6 Camry Sport, Dad has an Avalon, Mom just bought a 2008 Highlander, the build on all seem superb compared to previous vehicles I or my family has owned....

The Acura felt light in the doors, the dash squeeked, the 6 spd rattled a bit in the gate, windows creeked (incl sunroof), the seat base needed to be replaced because the bolts used weren't correct from the factory, the stereo went dead, the back of the steering wheel rattled, you get the idea...

The T4R seems built much better, the doors are heavy and have a good solid thud when you close them, no dash squeek (even on the coldest days), feels solid on the road, overall feels like a solid truck, my only complaint is the driveline clunk and sunroof rattle when closing the door.
