The word around here is that the major change will be a model year 2010. If that's true, very little will change for 2009.

The Fort-Runner will replace the 4Runner soon, it's very ugly and looks like a Honda CRV....

I think fo_sheezy's talking about the Toyota Fortuner. I actually think it doesn't look that bad and it definitely would "fit" as the next step for a 4Runner. They both have the same downward slanting pilar behind the rear doors unlike the Highlander.
All in all, nobody knows when this next model will show up though. Toyota hasn't given us much to work with. Motortrend magazine seems to think that the 4Runner's next redesign will be for 2009, for whatever that's worth.

Hey all,
According to this link:

The Fortuner is for the Asian, African and Latin American markets.

Hi all,
I am getting ready to trade my 2001 SR5 Sport. I am planning on ordering a 2009. Does anyone in the knowledge base know when Toyota starts the next year order process? I am not ready to ask a dealer yet.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the T4R.org Kevin.
The build schedule is typically about six months ahead of the calendar year. It takes about three months from the time of the order or build is released to the factory to the time it hits the dealer's lot if you're over by the West Coast. 2009s usually start arriving around August and September. June or July is about when I would start inquiring about next year's model.

Thanks much for the welcome and the info. I am on the other coast, but would imagine a similar schedule.
