'03

Before my 5th Gen I owned a '03 with 295k miles. Head gasket failure forced me to sell her. Should have bit the bullet and replaced the head OR completed a swap.

321k on an 04 sr5 v6
Did head gaskets at 250k and everything I touched looked pristine enough that I figured it’ll go another 250. Only other work I’ve done is rear main, brakes and coolant hoses. And I installed a rx8 seat on a fabbed up seat mount since my 6’5” ass doesn’t fit with a sunroof.

I have little over 170k on my 08’ V6, mostly been traveling miles. Have had the evaporator core replaced last year, which was a dash removal to do the work. Been in one accident non insured driver but got parts replaced with OEM. Plus a cigarette burn in the seat, a reminder why I quit smoking years ago.

175K on my 07. North American continent from Arctic to Mexico. THE BEAST.

replaced xreas with Bilstein
rear window motor replace
minor window issues
3 batteries
hoses
front brakes x 3
rear brakes x 2

Best vehicle ever. Pulled my ass out of a ditch on 4lo, went toe to toe with the Arctic winter at -75 below, made it through deep snow with the locking differential and it has a burger tray!

Just purchased 07 Limited V8 Shadow Mica with 175k miles.
Had about $4K worth of repairs and maintenance, including TB, water pump, radiator, etc...
Drives great!

Just over 400k 03 v8 awd 4x4
I do all the repairs, servicing and maintenance on my T4. I've lost trust with any mechanic here in this city. Youtube has made me my own mechanic.

Engine and transmission have never had problems. Major (expensive) repairs done on it, besides regular maintenance and replacing basic parts, are the water pump/timing belt 3 times, exhuast manifold/catalytic converters, ac compressor, master brake cylinder/abs. Stearing pump system is the only thing untouched in the engine compartment. Timely oil changes and OEM parts are top prioity.

I floor it every time I drive it and gone 4wheeling and it doesn't flinch. Last year, without hesitating, was the first time I've towed an RV with it. From NM to the beach in S Carolina with no problems. Gona go somewhere far again this year pulling my Jayco 20 footer. It has paid for itself many times even with all those parts replaced throughout it's life. Not sure if I will keep it if and when the engine or trany break.

If you want to fix your own car, or anything, youtube it first. That's my advice.

Be careful using this as a tow vehicle as the payloads are usually quite low - to the point of being unsafe. I had a Rockwood 2109s and after loading it up, I would have been about 300lb over the payload despite being well below the actual GCVW limits.

2003 V8 4X4 Sport

I just bought my son a 2003 V8 4X4 Sport Edition with 201,900 miles. Runs great, just a slight leak from that center transfer case. Previous owner took care of it. Last time the timing belt was replaced was in 2012 with 110k miles, so I'm good for a little while.

Not sure how you came up with you're good on the timing belt , the timing belt is recommended to be replaced every 90,000 miles, do the math 201,900 miles - 110,000 miles = 91,900 miles so it's due for the timing belt to be replaced now!!

Plus I've always heard 90k miles or 6 years. I know they will generally go much longer than that but still

Yeah, i know. I said that based off my buddy who has a 2006 4.7L Tundra who just changed his for the first time with 225,000 miles on it.
Mine was changed at a Toyota dealership, so i know they used a Toyota timing belt. I plan on taking off the timing belt cover just enough to inspect the belt soon.

You can do what you want based on your buddy not doing what he should of done and being lucky his belt didn't break, I hope your belt doesn't break, if it does the engine is toast!

It's hard to really inspect a rubber belt from just a look at one little section of it, as sorta mentioned rubber degrades over time and I'd say 10 years is pushing the lifespan of any belt even if it has Toyota stamped on it.
