Really? If you take a vehicle offroad you mean to tell me you keep it stock? If so, you aren't really offroading but are a mall crawler.

The suspension travel, wheel articulation, updated atrac and crawl control features all make it better off the road then our 4th gen. The heavily modified 3rd gen goes every where both goes but it took years to mod that thing right and is far from stock.
4th gens don't have rear lockers, from factory at least unless you manage to find a trail edition. The 4th and 5th gens have almost identical suspension. I turn ATRAC off and my 4th goes just as well if not better than my 5th gen Pro, granted it is more modified.

I'm pretty sure you can off-road a stock vehicle, and I'm pretty sure most mall crawlers are heavily modified.

You couldn't be more wrong but I see a ton of heavily modified jeeps and other suvs on the same trails which is fine by me. 90% of the trails are 100% stock capable.

1) never said all 4th gens had rear lockers. Said mine has a rear locker ..PERIOD.

2) Never said stock vehicles can't offroad just said the 5th gen Trd which has all the gadgets and a better suspension than previous 4 runners is better offroad and better on the road as well. Toyota didn't go backwards on this model.

I love the 96 3rd gen because I've been with it for a life time. Spent years developing it and making it uniquely suited for my needs but it doesn't hold a candle to the 5th gen Trd...period.

I'll vaguely give you that, even though you said our 4th gen... in a 4th gen forum.

I used to be a Jeep and Ford guy. Both products are crap so I became a Toyota guy. My Tundra does all my heavy towing and all Truck stuff and has for 13 years with zero issues. Replaced my 350 Ford super duty with that beast a 5.7 Trd Tundra. My 3 4 runners do what no jeep ever did for me, stay reliable and cheap to operate. Now I'm a can am guy. With age come wisdom ..lol

Love the look of the 3rd gen, owned one. Love the ride, room, and tech in the 4th gen, which I currently have...
