4th gen sound deadening

anyone know of a writeup for a sound deadening project similar to this one

http://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/1062846.phtml

for the 4th gen t4r? would be pretty sweet to get some of the noise out on those long trips. v6, roof rack, pipe bumpers, hood bug deflector etc all do their part to add some unwanted dbs to my ride.

From the grave yard......

Hello All,

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I searched for sound deadening and found practically nothing. This link takes you to a project a fellow member did to his rig.
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-...tml#post196098
Although I'm not in the market for new speakers/amp/HU/etc, I am interested in "quieting" the cabin a bit. I previously had Primewell PA100 tires (POS) and they howled loudly. Just replaced them with Michelin LTX M/S2 tires.......... whatta difference!!! Truck is very quiet now:

1) but just wanted to know if anyone had done "matted" (Dynamatt or Luxury Liner Pro, etc) so with great (quiet) results?
2) Is it true that best results are to "dynamatt" only the wheel wells/rear tail gate/ trunk floor/firewall/doors. I hear matting the floor really doesn't do much.

Anyway, thanks!

I do know its expensive and can be found on many places on the internet. But if you need it.....Any/most work great and install easily. I have used Dynomat in many car audio systems (gets rid of rattles from deep bass nicely) I've spent $75 to kill rattles from a sub encloser and around the front door speaker locations and felt like I should have bought more.

And my dad has used hushmat (or something like that) for his last hot rod he built and sold. The stuff he used was thicker than my experience with dynomat. Might be a better application for road deadening. I cannot verify though. I can ask him if needed.

I read the thread of the guy who upgraded his JBL system and I am pretty sure the sound deadening (which was VERY thorough and maybe overkill) cost him a pretty penny (if he paid anything close to retail). But it probably sounded so much better on the highway. Plus the audio is probably very nice too.

Its all around $10/sqft roughly unless you buy big packs for $300+
