You can get christmas lights made specifically for cars that plug into the cig lighter. so i would think its not illegal.

I like - kind of mental but at least you in the right state. I think we need to do little things like that to get in the xmass mood - cause it was in the low 80's yesterday and I forgot to but on the sunblock.
It would take a grinch to give you a ticket.

I did the same thing on my 4runner and when I was driving in stop and go downtown LA traffic last night I go so many smiles and thumbs up.
