Oh man that is clean. Gives it such a nice modern look. The orange lights feel pretty outdated. Nice work!

Will someone quickly tell me which bulbs are for 4H/4L indicator?

Also, which bulb is behind center diff lock on the very left of dash?

THANKS for not making me read the whole thread again lol!

The 4WD takes the T3 LED and I recommend you use the Goldstar Matrix 5630 LED from superlumination.com if you want as much light spread as you can get since it's just one led for the whole knob. The 5630's have 6 leds, 2 on each side and 2 on top, much better than one forward facing led chip and this goes for the HVAC selector buttons too. The LCD holes aren't deep enough to fit the T4 5630's so just buy the standard Goldstar SMD's and you can undo the led leads and rewire them, use solder plus heat shrink tubing to keep them rigid, to the fuse box using a pigtail fuse connector. Been so long since I did this I can't remember where I got the power from. Use the T3's for the center diff lock and downhill assist switches, rear window switch and hazard too. The fit will be tight but use the 5630 Goldstar Matrix and finally see that hazard button lit up during daylight, why Toyota put that bulb at the bottom of the switch so it faces the opposite side instead of pointing toward the indicator icon is a mystery, the all around light of the GSM 5630 will solve that. If you want to do the cup holders you get to them by removing the center cowling? Use the 74 T5 GSM 5630 x1 but it's bulb holder hangs upside down so I used a bit of electrical tape on pcb each side of bulbs base to keep it snug, too much to remove to replace it if it falls out mine hasn't, 74 T5 for glove box so you can actually see what's in it lol. There's also a blue only T3 Japanese OEM led that Traci carries that fits perfectly for the Reset/Mode button that I use. Be prepared you may have to trim some of the pcb edges off to fit bulbs in the holes, use a Dremel tool or a file and go slow, these are aftermarket parts and one size never fits all but it wasn't a big deal to do and the brightness of these bulbs is worth it! Let me know if you need any more info like how to get the 4WD switch out or how to get to the flasher relay to replace it and stop hyper flash of turn signals, so Not fun Toyota.

Do all 4th gens have LED's in the cluster or only the newer 06+ ones? I was under the impression that my cluster was incandescent since the HVAC controls were.

For my 05, all the bulbs in the HVAC panel (display and control buttons) were incandescent, just different sizes.
One observation when switching to LEDs is that the LEDs you find are most likely going to be on a spacer or riser that allows room for the resistor, add that to the fact that LEDs are directional, you will see some hot spots. if you look at how others' have come out you can see on the HVAC controls the left side is a little brighter than the right (the LED is installed off center), and the display has a cloudy sky kind of look. Not a deal breaker for me but if you are OCD like that it may bug you.

I was referring to the instrument cluster lights. I was thinking of switching those out to LED's, but if they already are, then I probably won't unless they stopped working.

Ah, the dash cluster are LEDs soldered onto the board.

For the hvac LCD, I can confirm there are neo wedges you can buy that don't need the 12v accessory mod. I'll repost the link to save someone from digging through all the pages. I just did a direct swap with the neo4 wedges and they work fine.

Neo Wedge
Did you use the neo 4 tall lights? Or one of the other ones?

Resurrecting an old thread…so much good info here.

Let’s say I purchase another instrument cluster and switch out the incandescent for the leds as not to ruin my original one. When I plug that into my harness, will my mileage show in the newer updated cluster or does the mileage from the other vehicle show up? Dumb question I know but it crossed my mind as I was researching.

If you are referring to the speedo/tach instrument cluster it has LEDs, not incandescent, but I understand the worry about ruining the one you have. As for the mileage, I can't say for certain but i feel like the mileage would be saved on the car's computer and not the cluster.
