Remove Roof Rack CrossBars

Anyone done it? There has to be a way to do it! and im talking about the bars that go from side to side, not the front to back bars.. i have a sport btw

You need to remove the rear end caps/covers on the bars that run fore/aft. I haven't seen the specific directions on how to remove them for the tubular rack on the SE and Urban. For the regular rack on the SR5, pre-2005 SE and Limited, it was a bit of finess and prying the bottom of the caps just enough to pull them off.

the sport looks a little different from what i have seen under the caps. if i tackle this i will for sure post some pictures!

Does anyone have the directions on removing the side to side rails? I'm putting a Thule roof rack on, and only need the front to back rails.

All you need to do is remove the rear caps, loosen the adjustment knobs on the crossbars so they slide, then slide them OUT the back (where the caps were removed).
