Angry My 4runner got smacked today!

Kinda sucks that this is my first official post. but oh well.

My wife had the 4runner today and went to shop rite during her lunch.

Anyway, she comes out and notices that someone didn't exactly know how to park when she noticed a huge dent in the corner of the rear bumper.

long story short. i need a new rear bumper. Can you guys recommend a place i can get OEM parts at good prices?

Thanks for the help
-Rez

bummer to hear that.

Don't know if they carry body parts but Partznet and TPC are pretty good.

do you have the 3 piece bumper or the 1 piece bumper. It will save you a lot of money if you have the 3 piece considering you would only have to buy the side that got hit on.

Rear Bumper Damage

I have no one to blame but myself. I backed into an icy snow bank and punched in the right side of my bumper. There is no structure involved; the plastic just caved in. I am thinking I may warm it with a hair dryer and try to push it out. Any thoughts on this?

The hair dryer is not powerful enough to heat up the plastic. You will need the heat gun for this. Be careful not to damage the paint with the heat.

if you take the bumper off, use the heat gun on the back side of it. If its on the front, that paint will shrivel faster than a guy in cold water.

If its a three piece then it will be pretty cheap. I just replaced a section of mine last week. Ran in at around $300 for the bumper, to have it painted, and for a mounting bracket I broke. I installed it myself to save some money. Even if it is a three piece you will still have to remove the entire bumper to insert the new piece. It is possible to gently pull the bumper away from the vehicle to get at the bolts, but I didnt want to risk cracking the paint.
Good luck.

I know this is a 3 year old post and was the guys 1 an only contribution, but for anyone else thinking about this, it won't work. Plastic isn't like metal. When it is stretched it won't pop back. It will have a permanent ring. Metal on the other hand with quality paint can be worked back with a skilled paintless dent removal guy. The ones that are good can work magic.

You CAN heat it up with a hair dryer and push it back out its not easy but it can be done my brother backed into someone with my truck and I fixed it myself. You can barely notice there was a dent there the paint on mine didn't peel or crack either so that helped

What color do you need? Maybe one of the posters here has one they'll let go for cheap.
