The Limited V6 May Be Gone

I read a post on Edmunds from a person who works at a Toyota Dealership and he said it looks like there are no more Limited V6's in the next shipment and the number to order a V6 Limited has been dropped. This guy has posted on Edmunds for years and he has never steered us wrong.

Also, I looked at the up-coming V6 Limited's for the Southeast U.S., there are none. So if you want a V6 Limited, go to a dealer now as they are still on the lots. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wow, i guess Wreck111's problem maybe more prevalent than i thought! No more V6 in a 4Runner.... (Well, anyway, i have always been a big fan of the 4.7L V8!)

Cliffy has been right on almost everything...i trust him on this one.

Thanks, Peter.

I didn't read it that way. There still is the V6 in the SR5 and Sport models. Maybe it is because of problems, but I think just a V8 in the Limited is because most people want the Limited in a V8. I look at it as a way to cut cost and to make a difference between models. I am sure the 4.0 V6 still has a future in 4Runners.

I own a limited V6 4wd. I didnt want the V8 because I dont tow anything. I also wanted to be able to switch from 2 to 4 wd. Not sure why they have made the decision to discontinue it. Here in the DC area if you want leather you must buy a limited, which would then mean you must buy a V8. Bad move for Toyota if this is indeed the case.

I read a few weeks ago the V6 in the Limited was to be discontinued. I took that message with a grain of salt. Now we have more rumors from a very good source. Toyota has not announced anything, if asked I am sure they would deny it. Here is a second post at Edmunds:
http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/[email protected]/6099

So remember this is not written in stone, but I would say that stopping Limited V6's is very credible. In my opinion, if you want a Limited V6 I would go shopping real soon.

dropping the v6 engine would be very interesting as toyota is releasing a new 04 tacoma w/ both the v8 and the v6. completely dropping the v6 might become an issue for them as the tacoma's cheaper line will disappear. since the v8 will then compete w/ the tundra line, i wonder what toyota plans to do...

Now remember Toyota is not dropping the 4.0 V6 in the 4Runner. The rumor is Toyota is dropping the V6 on the Limited model only. I expect to see the V6 for years to come and in different trucks, possibly including the Tacoma and the Tundra. Lets not write the 4.0 V6 off quite yet.
