First Post. I have a 2004 4Runner and want to put a roof rack on it. At the time of purchase (back in 2004) i asked for no roof rack thinking my Yakima rack from my 2002 could be modified to fit..much to my dismay there are no third party racks that fit. The only way to do it is to install (screw into the roof) tracks. I want to stay away from this option.
So i called several dealers and asked for a 2004 roof rack and was told it would be $2000. I was shocked because I never got a 2000 dollar discount when i chose not to havethe rack and i was stunned at the price. So i asked about a 2008n roof rack and they said $393. So i asked does it fit a 2004 has the roof dimensions and locations of the screw holes changed? No on can tell me. I have toyota canada looking into it. I'm just stunned they can't tell me the dimensions of my roof and where the holes are in relation to a 2008 roof.
Does anyone know if the 2004 roof dimensions are the same as the 2008 or any other year for that matter. Sorry for the long post. Just a little frustrated.
