Longer front mudflap option
Having a new 08 UR also, I was interested in better mudflap coverage up front. The new Fall/Winter tires I installed were picking up lots of small rocks and slingling them like a trebuchet. This has caused pitting of the tube step and the bottom edge of the doors. I spent lots of time last year chasing deer and elk in Oregon
on Forest Service gravel roads.
The door edge chips are only noticeable when I wash it (can feel them along the lower door lip). The tube step chips were adding up with each trip to the woods.
I ended up attaching a flap "extention".
These were very simple flaps I bought at the local auto parts store. I use the upper existing mudflap self-tapping screws and added 2 more small machine screws, washer & bolt to secure them to the INSIDE of the existing flap.
My thought was if it turned out too hokey I'd just buy new front flaps. To my surprise these simple flaps fit very nicely, plus the color/finish match is real close. You would have to look hard to tell they are not a long stock mudflap.
