E Brake Warning Buzzer

My previous vehicle had a buzzer that went off if you moved the car while the e-brake was engaged. The 4R has a dash light, but I am normally looking backwards when I back out of a parking spot so I dont see it.

Does anyone know an easy mod to add a small buzzer to the 4R to alert you that the E-brake is on?

I've done it a few times now on this new truck for me.

Bob

No offense but i never forget the foot brake whenever i'm backing up or moving forward. Kinda like not forgetting to put your seatbelt on.

i Agree a buzzer would be nice. my friends car beeps for everything (tpms brake, seat belts, trac.)... my eyes are on the road not on the dash. it would help. i let someone drive my car and they left it on for a block. its just a nice feature.

Lol. I'm going to check locally for a buzzer to wire in. I'll let you know what I find. I've also left mine on only for short distances. The warning light is in a corner of the cluster that I don't always see for some reason. I've also had people drive 5 + miles before.

I agree, a buzzer would be nice. 4Runner buzzes at you for other things, like seat belt, shifting 4wd at wrong speed etc. According to my manual there is a buzzer for the e-brake, but I don't hear anything in mine.

My 2008 SR5 4x4 buzzer works. I only had it warn me a couple times while on a boat ramp.

Just a thought but could we just tap into the 4wd buzzer?

Maybe. The key to doing this, IMHO, is to study the wiring enough to have the beeper sound with the p-brake on AND the shifter moved from the 'P' position. That's going to require tapping into the existing p-brake switch and finding an "out-of-'P' " signal.

It would work without the transmission selection included but it might get annoying.

I have to agree. If the parking brake is applied correctly, there is no way you could drive away with it on.

You need to press the pedal all the way to the floor to apply it.
