Oil Dipstick??

It pains me to even post this question, but I want to be sure. In my 2008 V8 sports edition runner, the oil dipstick has 2 dimples on it on one side they poke out and on the other there inverted, my question is when checking the oil level with dipstick, the front side reading always looks like you just put oil in the motor (even with the engin cold) and on the backside of the dipstick it is a clean reading....I know how to read a dipstick, I just want to make sure that the back side is the accurate reading.

Hmm...never really had my oil low...I have it changed every 5k...doesn't seem to burn any ever.

I do check it once and awhile and just make sure it's up to the second dimple...

Me Too

I use the side that reads "clean." Meaning, solid oil right up to a clear demarcation. The other side is smeared with gaps. I've wondered how that's possible but have seen it on other cars too.
