Truck looks arent right, HELP
Ive done several mods to my 2005 since I got it 2 yrs ago, but im still unhappy with how it looks. It just doesnt look bold like my previous 98 did. Dont get me wrong Im not one who is all about looks. I want a truck that performs more than anything and every mod added thus far is used on a regular basis but the truck just doesnt look right. Mods are listed in my sig. Future things to add include:
-Dunlop M/T Maxx 265/70/17
-Sliders
I think a lot of my disliking prob comes from the 03-05 style fenders, they look crappy compared to my old 98 limited and the 06-09 styles. Hopefully the bigger tires will fill it out, who knows. Can you all think of anything else that will help balance this truck out?
Also, I am going to get a hi lift jack once the sliders go on and I carry a shovel and ax in the vehicle now. What are your opinions on mounting these accessories to the basket? Will it look too cluttered?

The truck looks nice and clean and definitley will look nicer once you throw your new tires and sliders. But If I think of something it would be color match the grill.... is it chrome?..I can't tell from the pic. ..and/or black out headlights

Ur truck looks pretty sick to me
Once you get the new tires, try adding the spidertrax 1.5" spacers. That should help take care of the "skinny" look with the wheels and tires sitting inside the fender wells.

It looks good for an 03-05 to me. heck you got some stuff on it that I want for my 06. If you wanted a "bold" look then you can try the grill mod. I saw one guy on here with an 05 put on an 07 grill on. If I remember right you might have to trim the hood or the bumper. any good luck on the next mods!

In my opinion, I can see where you're trying to go with the truck. I think you need to extend the roof rack, it looks too small for the size of the truck. The bullbar kills it, try for a nice light rack (maybe defiant?) and color match the grill like the second post said. As far as blacking out the headlights, I think that makes the truck look cheap ("ebay mod" as I like to call them) and 4Runners are too nice for that.
Sliders/new tires will help out a ton and like the other post said Spydertrax will help give it a more "aggressive" stance.
Again, all IMO...to each their own. Look up BlairB's truck...i think that's what you're trying to go for.

Thats a really nice, clean looking, rig you got. I think the biggest thing is just letting it grow on you. Maybe pick up a 3rd gen project car?

I'd go 1 or 2 sizes up on the tires and spidertrax for sure. I'd also keep the white letters on the inside. That should take care of it. Also, I agree with the bull bar comment, would be much better with the defiant light bar!
Otherwise, keep up the good work.

On the tools on the rack idea I wouldn't unless you plan on using them soon and often but tooling on the street 90% of the time and the tools on the rack will look cluttered and being exposed to the elements isn't good overall.

Bull bar has to go...
Take off your stock running boards it will look a lot higher and more of truck! instead of a soccer mom suv...
I personal like the look of the chrome grill... and wheel adapters for sure...

x2 on pulling the running boards off. That makes a huge difference in my book. Definetely needs some new shoes, maybe some gunmetal (match your rigs color) FJ rims from the 2007 TRD SE. I haven't been able to justify the cost yet, but go for a GOBI roof rack and ladder.

Thanks to everyone for posting! Very good opinions here, just a matter of having the money available to pull them off. Also thanks to those who thought the truck looks good as is, I may indeed just need to let it grow on me. Ive never been a fan of the 03-05 style but its what I ended up with.

Agree with everything said. I hope the bigger tires and spidertrax will help the crappy narrow looks. Prob wait to get rid of the bull bar until I can find a better solution to protect the front end. Although cheap the bar has protected the bumper a number of times. Ive been drooling over Blair's truck for quite sometime now, very sweet.

Agreed I really hate the white letter out at this point. The black out should look cleaner. The defiant light bar is a sweet item!

Thanks Ron been going back and forth with it for about a week now. Just need to come up with an idea of how to unclutter my cargo area.

Ill be leaving the boards in place until I have the sliders built in a few months since dropping them doesn't provide any additional clearance and the boards are atleast providing some protection to the rocker panels even if it is minimal at best. Mine have taken a beating.
