Smile Noob here, have a question

Hello all, I recently sold my 350z and purchased a White 04' v6 4runner sport (bought a house, had to be practical). I am loving this truck. Comparing it to the Z is like apples/oranges but the car 'feels' noticeably more solid and well built than my 350. I've already read quite a bit here about the truck. Thanks for all the great info.

I do have one question which I couldn't find an answer to though. Even when lightly depressing my brake pedal to slow down, I feel what feels alot like ABS kicking in. It seems to happen intermittently. It doesn't feel like a warped rotor...I know what that feels like...this feels more like a mechanical vibration. Is this normal for the truck or is this something i'm going to have to have the dealer check out?

Here's pics of my Z if anyone's interested. I had a good time modifying it...trying to decide if I will do the same to this 4runner:

Hopefully other people will respond, but I will throw in my 2 cents. First off I have a 3rd generation, but after 57,000 miles I have never had my ABS brakes come on. So I would say that is not normal. I might mention once in a while the system makes a audible click after I stop, something about it recalibrates the brakes. By the way, nice Z.

There is a fine vibration that can be felt in the brake pedal intermittently. It is normal. It occurs randomly. Sometimes while at a stop, sometimes while stopping. It feels sort of like a cell phone while on vibrate mode, lasts for a couple seconds. This is normal, I guess, since I've seen it addressed on other threads.

Mine does the same exact thing.... I believe it is normal, but it can definitely be annoying. I guess it is just something that we have to get used to.

I have never had it on the road.

The only time I have had it was offroad with the TRAC or DAC kicking in.

DO you have 4wd or 2wd?

I would take it back to the dealer.

Mine does the same thing. Feels like the rear brake is hesitating. The rig stops fine but this hesitation becomes annoying after a little while.

I have 4wd.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll ask the dealer when I take it in for its first oil change but something tells me they're going to say it's normal.

I had similar problem when new. Breaks would not grab realy well at speed and aply uneven press when lightly pressed at low speed. That was Rotor breaking in. All that went away around 300 miles, when Pads and Rotors broke in and set well.
