Few questions on misc stuff (Headlights and Suspension mostly.)

I am about to do an overhaul on my runner and get it ready for some summertime trails up here in the PNW, and am curious if anyone can tell me the difference between the OME nitrochargers and the nitrocharger sports? I know they have been engineered differently, but has anyone actually got the sports on their rigs with experience?

All of this comes down to the fact that I am about to lift my 4runner with an OME setup and am trying to decide if I want to go for the ARB bumper with a Superwinch EP9 mounted to it. Obviously, if I add the extra weight to the front, I need to get the right OME components installed at the same time. I was told I should consider either the light duty setup if no bumper, or the medium with bumper and winch. Does that sound about right? (I really want a warn winch, but that would be out of my current budget. I also would like the Icon suspension, but that too is out of budget unless I really trim back the number of mods I am going to do for this summer.)

The alternative is to forego the ARB Bumper and go with a front grill-mounted lightbar and throw on some PIAAs or something. I've seen some seriously thrashed front bumpers from the gnarly trail conditions around here, and just wanna be as hassle-free as I can off-road. When off-roading with my brothers jeep last year we came up on loads of overgrown, dried up nasty brush and it scored the crap out of his panels. I'm fully expecting to take some hits, but the less wear and tear, the happier the wife will be.

My intention is to stick to the fairly easy/moderate trails, but with the weather we get up here, you never know exactly what the conditions on the trails are likely to be one day from the next.

Lastly, I've been searching the forums, google, online parts stores, etc - and cannot find, for the life of me, a place that either lists or sells the little pieces of trim that go under the 2006+ 4runner headlight housings. Y'know, the body colored bit that bolts on right under the light itself on the front of the rig. I know there was a thread a long time ago where someone listed a place to buy these, I thought it was burtman industries or someplace, but when i check out the site they're not up there anymore. Any ideas where one can buy these and perhaps buy them already painted? Down the road I would like to swap headlight housings and throw in some HIDs.

Any advice or sharing of experience would be much appreciated. I thank you all for your time and look forward to, perhaps, seeing some of you on the trails this summer.

I have the nitrocharger sports. I was told by Toytec that they are the newer version of the nitrochargers, and have better valving. They were a $30 option when i bought them, but now i noticed on their website they are no longer an option as they are being phased out. I had a 3rd gen with the regular nitrochargers and i think they may have been a little less harsh, but it could be my imagination. I like the shocks and would recommend the OME set up. And yes you need the 885 medium springs if you are adding extra weight up front. if not, get the 884 light springs if you dont plan on doing any extra weight. hope this helps.

edit...

I found a site that sells the molding... geeeesh that took a while... i have been looking for days.

Regarding the Nitrochargers:
Thanks for the input man, I really appreciate it. I am looking forward to trying the sports out.

Regarding the light trim piece:
Dude, seriously, you have my utmost gratitude for that find! I have been looking for these for years, thank you so much! Now lets hope they're in stock! Gonna buy a set for a rainy day project down the line.

Thanks man, will definitely use you as a resource if need be. Do you have a thread with before/after pics of the lift perhaps? I'm just curious what to expect.

I am seriously thinking about throwing that ARB bumper on also, mine has chipping paint and I really like the look of the black ARB bumper on white runners. But I like to keep my engine bay as clean as possible when not off-road and I'm sort of concerned about the engine compartment getting flooded with loads of crappy rain water when I'm bombing down the freeway though, since we get some real downpours around here in the spring. Anyone with the ARB bumper have any experience with that? Is it more or less the same as with the factory bumper or considerably worse?

I also wonder how hard it would be to get a winch on it after I install it in case I put it off. I suppose the entire bumper has to come off, which would suck to have to do that install twice. Might just have to pick up a winch now if I'm ever gonna get one.

let me know how your experience goes with that company and if it is the right part...

PS: I was talking with burtman industries and by what they told me you might be able to go down to the dealer and get it. I asked them for the part number i will post it as soon as I get it.. If you can in fact get it from the dealer. it might end up being cheaper if you don't have to pay shipping.

Thanks

Dude, check out partznet, they are(I think) about 60 bucks there.

Edit, Here you go, http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

They come colored too, so make sure you pick the right one. I have an 04 white, and the white selected here matched perfectly.

Very nice! Thanks all for the team effort. I throught I had looked everywhere on partznet, but apparently I didn't think to look under grill filler panel, not sure how I missed that, but I certainly did. Thanks much! I have an 04 White runner too, so I may just have to get my set there since it would cost bucks to have these primed and painted on top of everything else.

Definitely man! Gonna be roughly a week or two before I can get some of this installed due to work/time constraints, but I will most definitely have pics up when things are finished. Glad to see more PNW runners too! Hopefully at some point we can gather enough ppls up here in Washington and do some trails or something down the line!

The LED retrofit is where you simply pick up a set of the 2006-2009 Toyota 4Runner OEM LED Tail lights and swap them with your factory 2003-2005 tails. It's literally a 15 minute, plug n play mod that makes a huge difference. They're really bright and look really nice!

Edit: I'm up north of you about an hour or so, just south of Seattle a bit. You can also buy non-OEM LED tails, they're like those replica lights you see all over, but I have heard that they may not hold up as well over time, but might be worth a look if the savings is significant.
