License Plate Bracket...

Well the rear license plate has annoyed me from day one of owning the T4R. Why did Toyota only have the top mounting holes and let the license plate sit against the sheetmetal. I got annoyed with it and finally decided to do something about it. I made some brackets out of 1/8" aluminum that was 3/4" wide. I bent it and then cut some holes with an 17/64" drill bit and mounted it to the truck. Then I mounted my license plate cover and license plate to it with some hardware from home depot.

I understand it's a pretty ghetto job, but no one sees it so I'm fine with it. Let me know your thoughts...

Oh btw, no it doesn't get in the way of the rear hatch handle. Well maybe it would if you hand ham hocks for hands...

Mine just sits against the metal. I taped some soft tape behind the plate, so it doesn't rattle.

July, does your plate rattles when I shut a door? Mine is rattling everytime I give the door more than enough force. Anyway, how do you feel after doing it by yourself? Great isn't it!

Linhsy, I'll check to see if it rattles when I get home. I mainly did it because when I installed the subs and amp it would rattle. Now it stopped rattling, but I found that now the wiper assembly is rattling. Doh...

Another trick is to stick the clear rubber feet (nubs) that you put on the bottom of electronics equipment to prevent them from damaging the top surfaces of floors, desks, whatever onto the back of the plate. You can get them at Radio Shack for cheap!

I just don't slam my door shut. The 4th gen rear door latches itself with zero force from you (once its close enough). One my favorite features.

Velcro

I had similiar problem. Fixed with about 8" of velcro along the bottom of the tag.
