Engine Questions.. Please Help!

I have an 07 4Runner SR5, I have noticed latley that the motor when it is running and when I am driving, There is a ticking noise. Is this common? if not, what can I do to fix it?

Also, my brake lights will flicker as I am driving, and If I have my cruise control on, and I hit a bump it will turn of. Both of those are very intermintent. I have taken it into toyota and they told me they couldnt figure anything out.

So.... Please let me know if you know anything thing I can do....

Thank you

Ticking sound could be a sticking Hyd. lifter, the other item with break lights I bet is a shorted contact somewhere in your wiring.

Your Toyota dealers service guy sounds lost, like most all Toyota dealers service people.

Several things could cause the tick. A few of the possibilities are a VSV valve (see link in sig), an out of adjustment valve (very unlikely) or a noisy fuel injector.

I'd have them check the stoplight switch calibration/mounting. It sounds like it's adjusted wrong.

Thanks for the input... Any other sugg. will be great. I am going to be starting some work on the truck this weekend and this week.

Any notes or sugg. would be great. To help with power or getting better gas milage.

Thank you

that ticking may just be the normal noise that the 6 cyl. makes, it sometimes sounds louder when next to a wall a highway barrier.
