Rough Idle

I have a 2004 4Runner with 5300 miles. When the car idles in drive, the RPMs drop to around 500 and then the car feels like it is going to stall and then the RPMs shoot up to around 750 and then start to fall back to 500. I took it to the dealer today, but there were no codes in the system. Any ideas?

clean your MAF(mass airflow sensor) with that low of miles that is the only guess I have unless you have a bad batch of gas.

Some of the idle varying is normal. When the A/C cycles the idle changes.
The idle going to 1500 rpm when you first start is normal. I suspect it is the
ECU trying to keep the emissions as low as possible.

Unless the motor stalls or gets under 350 rpm I wouldn't worry.
