Installing a Rear View Camera - Need Help

Hey guys,.. need a little insight. I am in the midst of installing a backup camera for my new Pioneer x920bt. I've gone as far as installing the camera underneath the silver lip of the liftgate and routing the video line up the gate and into the cabin where the rest of the wire bundle comes in. The part that I'm stumped on though, is determining the best way to route the video line from the back of the cabin to the front. I've searched the forums, but I haven't come across anything showing how to do this. I've tried pushing a fish tape through the void on the drivers side top corner (accessed if you remove the mirror on the DS rear corner), but keep hitting a stop. I think I'm hitting the side curtain airbags, and I realy don't want to mess with those. I've also tried running the fish tape between the roof liner and the roof, but still don't get very far.

Any suggestions?

One more question while I'm at it:
- What is the best place to tap into constant power? I know I can tap the wire harness at the DS taillight or the rear dome light, but I like the accessibility of the cluster of wires that are actually mounted on the liftgate. Problem is that I can't find a constant power. Can anyone point me to one?

I had to remove the panels in the cargo area, this also let me zip tie the cables to the factory wiring that ran from the front to rear.

Cargo Area Panel Access

There are a lot of panels and holes that kept me from running the wire as you're trying to do without removing anything.

I dunno about the wiring problem, I only tapped my reverse lamp wire (which was located under one of the panels I removed to run the wiring).

I agree with gaterose, the best and cleanest way to run wires from the back to the front is to remove the cargo area panels and run the wire along the factory wiring on the floor under the door sill plates.

Why do you need a constant power? I would recommend that you search for a key-on power instead of a constant to help your battery live longer. The easiest place that I know of to tap into this (and with plenty of current capacity) is the main ignition switch harness. This wire is a black with a red stripe I believe. In case you do need a constant power, the constant at the ignition switch harness is white with blue stripe.

When and if you remove the cargo area panels I will forwarn you that the cargo net holders were by far the hardest to remove. I ended up breaking mine in the process. Thankfully they are cheap and available at the Toyota dealer.

I've seen this in a couple of other threads and I'm not sure why others breaks theirs; I've removed mine several times and had no trouble. I just grabbed the star looking thing with 2 fingers and pulled, the top, outermost part pulls away from the "anchor" part and then both pop out.

I think the reason people are breaking them is because they are using a screwdriver to pry the whole thing out as one piece instead of first pulling it apart. I dunno though
